Charlie and his Cousins

On Saturday, Aunt Sara, Uncle Andy and cousins Evan and Seth came to Brooklyn. They fought Memorial Day traffic to come in for brunch and a walk around DUMBO. And it was well worth it. Evan is so big! He is talking up a storm and is so sweet and happy. He played for a long time in the playground, climbing on every piece of equipment without a care. Charlie and Seth (who are only 2 months apart) loved spending time together watching Evan play. The touched and grabbed each other and posed for hundreds of pictures. We always love picking Sara and Andy's brain for advice as they are such great parents and we value their opinions so much. At the end of the day, we took Evan for ice cream and posed for some wonderful pictures on the dock overlooking Manhattan. We can't wait to see the Starr's again sometime soon!

Memorial Day Weekend

This week began with Charlie's 4 month Checkup. He weighed in at 13.5 pounds and was a little over 25 inches long. He is doing great; healthy and happy and hitting all the proper milestones. He also began trying little tastes of adult foods, including BBQ sauce, lime juice and mustard. We are so proud of him! Charlie had a very busy weekend. On Saturday he saw his cousins (see separate post). On Sunday, the family went into Manhattan to explore the Upper West Side where Mommy and Daddy used to live. We spent some time in the park, walked through a street fair and of course bought some toys for Charlie. On Monday, we had a picnic with Josh and Marcie who bought a grill and made some wonderful food. What a great way to welcome the unofficial start of summer!

Day Care!

On Tuesday, Jessie returned to work and Charlie started Daycare at Natalie's Sunflower Daycare here in Park Slope. Charlie is much loved and the center of attention as one of the youngest babies in the program. He seems to like seeing all of the other children and he is behaving great and getting glowing reports. Jessie was welcomed back at work with much fanfare and all her co-workers were so excited that she is back. Over the weekend, Charlie met Hal and his wife Lara, friends of Doug's from Young Lawyers for Obama. We had a great time at our favorite local hangout. On Saturday, we went to the City so Charlie could try Shake Shack for the first time! We spent such a lovely day together. Charlie also got to meet the author of the Lyle the Crocodile Books and got an autographed copy of Lyle's best books.

Doug and Jessie go Black Tie

Taken before we left to go to Jill's wedding.

Trips & Milestones

At almost 4 months old, Charlie is really starting to show signs of becoming a little boy and leaving his newborn days behind. This week, during a trip to Grandma Susan and Grandpa Bruce, Charlie rolled over for the first time (although he refused to do it for the camera)! Charlie also got to see his best pal Andrew and some of Daddy's oldest friends from East Meadow. On Saturday night, Charlie slept over Grandma's house while Jessie and Doug went to Jill Silbering's wedding. On Sunday, Charlie met up with his oldest friend Jude and went to a street fair in Park Slope. He ended the day with a visit to Jude's apartment where he and Jude enjoyed a nice play-date while Mom and Dad got to hang out with Jude's parents Eric and Hayley. We all had a great time!

Mr. Charlie goes to Washington

On Monday, the family packed up and left Uncle Ben's and took the day to visit the Capitol. After taking a tour, we were able to obtain gallery passes to the House of Representative's from who we thought was our congresswoman (turns out we were wrong)! We also got to visit the Senate Chamber and saw Dick Durbin give a speech. Charlie got into the spirit and expressed his desire to serve the country by spitting up all over the Capitol floor! Maybe Charlie will be the next Senator from New York--as long as doesn't promise to put soda in the water-fountains.

Mother's Day

Jessie celebrated her first Mother's Day last weekend. We celebrated with Jessie's family in DC and had a great time. Charlie gave Jessie some great presents and told her she was just the best Mommy in the whole world. Jessie has been such a wonderful mother and we are all so proud of her as she gets ready to go back to work next week. We love her so much!! It was also nice to be able to tell Grandma Iris (in person) that she is an awesome Mom & Grandma too!

Charlie and the Lazari

This weekend, the family drove down to Washington DC to see Charlie's Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle and Aunt. We stayed at Ben's new apartment which is in a spectacular neighborhood right near the Capitol. Ben and Jess took us to some of the favorite restaurants. We also took part in EU Embassy day and visited Austria, Belgium and Slovakia. But, the highlight of the trip was getting to see our family. Charlie had such a good time with his grandparents and Uncle and Aunt and Mommy's friend Rebecca, Cathy and Dennis. He showed them all his new abilities such as smiling, grabbing his hands and cooing. He is so lucky to have relatives who love and care for him so much!!!

Video of the Kids "Dancing"

Good for some laughs!

East Meadow in the House!!

On Sunday, Uncle Jon, Aunt Jeanie, Uncle Josh and Aunt Kerrie together with Baby Andrew and Baby Mia came to Park Slope for a picnic in Prospect Park. Charlie got to hang out with some of Daddy's oldest and best friends. We ate some great food for lunch and enjoyed an ice from Lia's for desert. Although the babies were oblivious to each other for most of the day, at the end we got some wonderful pictures of the kids together. They had a wonderful time getting to know each other and we suspect that they will be great friends for years to come.

Charlie goes to Williamsburg

Charlie had a weekend so busy, it couldn't fit into just one post. On Friday, Mommy and Charlie went to the park with Charlie's friends Thomas, Zoe and Lucy from their Boing group. For happy hour, the Rosenzweig's enjoyed "Babies & Beer," a Park Slope tradition, especially well attended given the beautiful weather. The babies enjoyed looking at each other and crying in unison while Mommy and Daddy made some wonderful new friends and went out to dinner afterward with some of them. On Saturday, the family went to Williamsburg, took a tour of the Brooklyn Brewery and relaxed at the new East River Park. For dinner, we had amazing barbecue at Fette Sau, one of the best BBQ joints in the City.
