We wanted to take a moment to let all our followers know that the most recent post of Charlie's first birthday will be our last weekly post. Not to worry(!), we will still be posting monthly; more frequently for big days, trips, etc. Jessie and I have had so much fun documenting Charlie's First Year on this blog. We have used it as our baby book to capture memories, to share our photographs with family and friends and to be able to be with him--even if just a little bit--while at work. Thanks to everyone for following Charlie's exploits and we look forward to continuing to share our memories with all Charlie's family and friends.

Charlie Turns 1!
On Sunday, January 23, 2011 our son Charlie turned one year old. It has been the most incredible, stressful and fantastic year of our lives getting to know our little boy. To celebrate, we had a birthday blowout at the Moxie Spot in Brooklyn Heights. Almost all of Charlie's friends and family were able to come and celebrate. We were so moved to have everyone, both kids and adults, so excited to celebrate with Charlie and remember what a great year this has been. The party went off without a hitch and included Grandpa Bruce's (Mr. Wonderful) magic show, great food and tons of great presents. Thanks to everyone for coming and for your amazing generosity. We particularly want to thank our parents and siblings for being the best family anyone could have!

Charlie's First Haircut
In preparation for his birthday party, Charlie got his first pair of new shoes and then sat for his first haircut at LuLu's on Saturday. Charlie kept with his incredibly chill personality and didn't shed a single tear; in fact, he seemed to really enjoy the whole process. Nelly was Charlie's barber and did a great job, however, it probably didn't hurt that LuLu's is really just a big toy store with a million things to keep him occupied! Charlie is really starting to like crawling around on his stomach and walking with a walker (human or toy). Otherwise, we took it easy in anticipation of next week's birthday craziness!

Off to Grandma's House
This weekend, the family went out to Long Island for some quality time with the Grandparents. Charlie demonstrated all his new tricks including assisted walking and showing off his growing voice. Charlie loved playing with all Grandma's great toys and playing with Grandpa's nose and eyes. On Sunday, after a tasty brunch, we went to Charlie's buddy Jacob's 1st Birthday party. Jacob is half Korean and he had a wonderful celebration. According to tradition, he is going to be a fabulously wealthy technology executive! We had such a wonderful time celebrating with Jacob and his terrific family.

Happy New Year, 2011!

We had a very eventful week saying goodbye to 2010. A mighty blizzard rocked Park Slope Sunday night into Monday allowing Daddy to stay home and enjoy a long weekend with Mom and Charlie. The roads were impassible so we spent the day at home relaxing, watching movies and practicing walking. The blizzard had a silver lining as Jessie's friend Amy was able to come over for a quick visit. For New Year's Eve, our neighbors Derek, Melanie and Jack came over and we had a great dinner as we welcomed the New Year. On New Year's Day we went over to Charlie's daycare pal Alice's house and watched the Gators beat up on Penn State in the Outback Bowl. We had such a great time hanging out with Alice's parents, Peter and Kim, and watching the kids play together. Later that night, we had dinner with Josh and Marcie who love seeing how big Charlie is and watching all his new tricks. Now the real countdown begins to 1/23/11, Charlie's First Birthday!
